In renewed efforts to tackle the menace of fake, substandard drugs and other regulated products, the Yobe State Government has donated a parcel of land to the National Agency for Food and
Drugs Administration and Control, NAFDAC, for the building of a state-of – the-art office complex. The Yobe State Governor, Alhaji Ibrahim Gaidam, an-nounced the donation when the Acting Director General of NAFDAC, Yetunde Oni, paid him a visit recently. The Acting Director General of NAFDAC was in Yobe for a sensitisation campaign on ‘Rational use of Controlled Medicines, Safe Handling of Chemicals and Responsible use of Pesticides and Agricultural Chemicals’ in the state.
The Governor who also directed the Head of Service, to provide office accommodation in the two other senatorial districts so as to improve the logistics challenges being faced by NAFDAC in the state, promised to provide an operational vehicle to NAFDAC to assist in patrolling nooks and crannies of the state. He further reiterated that the donation demonstrates the commitment of his government to enable NAFDAC rid the state of the menace of drug misuse and poor handling of pesticides and agro-chemicals.
While declaring the sensitisation workshop open, Governor Ibrahim Gaidam applauded NAFDAC for its efforts in enlightening public on dangers posed by the irrational use of drugs, pesticides and chemicals.
